FC Porto claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Boavista in the Porto derby, thanks to a brilliant breakthrough from left-back Wilson Oruma Marcano. The victory keeps them one point behind leaders Benfica ahead of next week's Supertaça final against the same opponents.
The game started in high spirits, but opportunities were rare until the 28th minute. Marcono received a pass on the left wing and began his move. He skillfully beat two defenders before driving towards the goal, spotting the goalkeeper off his line. His delicate chip from just outside the box found the net, giving him a deserved lead.
Boavista tried to equalize after the break,Primeira Liga Hotspots but Porto's defense, led by Pepe and Schmeichel, held firm. Schmeichel made crucial saves from Iuri Medeiros and Hugo Figueiredo to keep the shutout.
Porto will now prepare for Benfica's Supertaça final, where they will seek their sixth title under manager Sergio Conceicao. The match takes place at the Estádio Municipal de Braga next Sunday.
